case study reports are a series of three research projects that explore a built project’s sustainable features and use of material. all three are in depth analyses  into a project’s material condition and assembly methods employing a collage of digital and hand-drawn media. two projects are depicted here. the igualada cemetery outside of barcelona, spain by enric miralles and carme pinós utilizes gabion walls as a structural and decorative element reminiscent of the earth in the cemetery’s pathway, which recalls the passing of time. meanwhile, social housing in saint-denis, france by jtb architects employs per-fabricated CNC wood panels to quickly assemble a social housing apartment building in a bustling parisian suburb.
